What is RISOGRAPHY?

RISOGRAPHY is an ecological stencil printing process based on screen printing, which was developed by the Japanese company RISO Kagaku. The printing inks based on vegetable oils are applied to the paper without heat. RISO printers do not place high demands on the material to be printed. The surface just needs to be open so that the ink can penetrate the paper. Once the stencil (“master”) has been created, the machine automatically attaches it to the ink cylinder (“drum”) and can then be printed at an impressive speed of up to 195 pages per minute. Due to the process, each sheet is an original.

Which RISOGRAPHS are there?

RISO machines are available in A4, A3 and A2 versions. However, production of the A2 RISOGRAPH has now been discontinued. In size A3, RISO also has a machine with 2 cylinders in its range, which applies 2 colors to the print medium in one pass. It achieves a printing speed of up to 150 pages/minute.
